Strategy should be stretching - but enjoyable.
Too often developing a strategy involves reading through endless data and reports. We believe that curiousity and imagination are just important. We also believe in keeping things simple. We are you now? Where do you want to get to? How do you get there?
We help you to enjoy working on strategy - and to look at issues and challenges from all perspectives.
db associates supported Peter Hartland, CEO of St Luke’s Hospice Sheffield, in his leadership of the development of their new organisational strategy to run from 2024-2028.
‘I was keen to get internal buy in to the production of our new strategy and we had sessions involving staff from all levels, as well as input from trustees and other stakeholders. However, I also wanted an independent but informed perspective and this was what David provided.
His knowledge and experience helped gave us an objective view of the strategy and was especially helpful in allowing those involved to understand some of national and sector perspectives, and the wider dynamics at force.’
Local Hospice Lottery operate the largest hospice lottery in the country. To date, they have raised over £40 million and work with well over 30 hospices all over the UK.
db associates was asked to work with their staff, trustees and partner hospices to develop a new strategy using the McKinsey Three Horizons framework.
Horizon one represents core established activities that provide the greatest profits and cash flow. Here the focus is on improving performance to maximize remaining value.
Horizon two covers emerging opportunities that could provide substantial profits in the future but that could require considerable investment.
Horizon three contains ideas for profitable growth much further on such as small ventures like research projects or pilot programs.
‘On the back of this strategy, during the next 5 years we aim to contribute a further £40 million in sustainable, regular planned income to local hospice care. We really appreciate David’s support, guidance and facilitation to help us develop our new strategy. I would happily recommend him to other charities and social enterprises.’
